Umbra et Imago, a German band from Karlsruhe, founded by frontman Peter Manuel "Mozart" Munz in 1991, initially emerged from The Electric Avantgarde project. Their debut album Träume, Sex und Tod was released in 1992, followed by Infantile Spiele in 1993. The band underwent significant lineup changes and stylistic shifts over the years, transitioning from electronic music to a more guitar-oriented sound with hard rock and metal elements. Notable albums include Gedanken eines Vampirs (1995), Mystica Sexualis (1996), and Mea Culpa (2000). Umbra et Imago gained attention for their eccentric live performances, which often incorporated BDSM elements. In 2010, the band announced that Opus Magnus would be their last studio album due to financial constraints. However, they continued to release music, including collaborations like "Davon geht die Welt nicht unter" with Lex from Megaherz in 2011 and albums such as Die Unsterblichen (2015) and Die Unsterblichen: Das zweite Buch (2017).
