Claus Reichstaller, born on May 25, 1963 in Munich, Germany, is a trumpeter known for his contributions to modern jazz. He began playing the trumpet at age nine and initially performed in a church brass ensemble. By the age of eleven, he had won a regional competition in Youth Makes Music. After studying classical trumpet at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich from 1980 to 1984, Reichstaller began performing with notable musicians like Benny Bailey and Al Porcino. Starting around the mid-1980s, he joined Nathan Davis' Paris Reunion Band, which led to international tours. He also co-founded the recording label Conception Records. Under this label, he released the albums Arrival in 2000 and In The Heat Of The Night (A Tribute To Quincy Jones) in 2020. In 2010, he was also featured in the album 40 Jahre Universität Augsburg. Reichstaller's compositions were recognized in 2009 with his music for the theater piece "Leichtes Spiel" by Botho Strauss. He was appointed Professor of Jazz at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 2009, where he also served as the head of the jazz department.
