Trick & Kubic is the collaborative project of Frank Hermann and Lars Niekisch, both born in Germany and active as DJs in Berlin’s Prenzlauer district. The duo began performing together in 2002 at the techno club Tresor, where they cultivated a reputation for energetic sets and innovative remixing. Their first commercial breakthrough came with the maxi‑single "Can't Stop" released on 16 November 2004, followed by "Orbital Dance Mchine" on 11 August 2005, which was featured on Fatboy Slim’s compilation Bondi Beach: New Year’s Eve '06. In February 2006 they issued "Easy", a track that later appeared on the television series Germany’s Next Topmodel and a promotional video for the fashion label Oui starring Lena Gercke, and subsequently entered the German charts in July 2006. The group continued to release material through 2007 and 2008, including the Kiddaz.FM Mix Series 005: Trick & Kubic compilation, the Doggie Dance EP, and singles such as "High", "Believe/Container", "Near", and "Nunsdorf City", partnering with labels Great Stuff Recordings, Sonntag Music, and Killa Beat Recordings. Trick & Kubic’s work has been noted for its contribution to the electronic music scene in Germany, with several tracks achieving notable airplay and inclusion in club compilations.
