Grant Gershon, born on November 10, 1960, in Norwalk, California, is an American conductor and pianist. He began his musical education at age five under his mother's tutelage. After graduating from Alhambra High School, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude from the University of Southern California in 1985. Gershon started his career as Assistant Conductor/Principal Pianist for Los Angeles Opera and Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Esa-Pekka Salonen. He has conducted prestigious orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra and San Francisco Symphony, and performed at festivals such as Salzburg and Ravinia. In May 2000, Gershon became Music Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, leading over 250 performances at Walt Disney Concert Hall and premiering works by composers like David Lang and Steve Reich.
