Julienne Taylor is a Scottish singer-songwriter with a distinctively lilting voice who performed with local bands in Edinburgh before moving to London at the age of 17 to pursue a career in music. She worked at Shepperton Film Studios learning to be a sound engineer and sang in clubs and other venues at night. She made a successful debut at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000 as a result of which Virgin Atlantic signed her to a recording contract.
Her debut on the album 'Racing the Clouds Home' featured guest artists including Gordon Campbell, Richie Harrison, Rab Howat, Finlay MacDonald, Dougie Pincock, Chris Stout and Stuart Wood performing country-style songs with a Celtic touch and a capella vocals. Release of the album was delayed, however, and it failed to make headway. The single 'Love Hurts' from her 2003 album 'Music Garden' on the Music Kitchen label, gained a lot of airplay in South Korea and made her popular there.
She released 'Songs to the Siren' via Music Kitchen in 2007 and 'A Time for Love' through Evosound in 2008. She signed with the Evolution Music Group and her 2011 album 'The Heart Within' was a hit in Hong Kong. Her concert in Hong Kong that year with her backing band, The Celtic Connection, was released as 'Live at the Lyric' in 2012 and on DVD and Blu-ray in 2013. She also performed in Asia with legendary American folk singer Judy Collins.
