The Flee-Rekkers, a British instrumental rock and roll band, were formed in the late 1950s. The group was fronted by tenor saxophonist Peter Luke Fleerackers. Other members included Dave 'Tex' Cameron (lead guitar), Alan Monger (rhythm guitar, baritone sax), Elmy Durrant (tenor sax), Doug Henning (bass), and Mickey Waller (drums). The Flee-Rekkers were discovered playing at The Hive Jive in Putney, South West London, by producer Joe Meek, who produced their first single "Green Jeans" in early 1960. This rocked-up version of the traditional "Greensleeves" reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart but faced supply issues due to the collapse of Meek's Triumph Records label. The group released several more singles including "Sunday Date" (1960), "Blue Tango" (1960), and "Lone Rider" (1961). They were signed for a long-term contract with Mecca after extensive touring in Britain. Their final single "Fireball" (1963), arranged by Tony Hatch, is considered one of their best works. The group disbanded in August 1963. Posthumous releases include the compilation album Joe Meek's Fabulous Flee-Rekkers (1991).
