Lostep was an Australian production duo composed of Luke Chable, born 14 March 1975 in Adelaide, and Phil K, born 3 January 1978 in Melbourne, both DJs and producers who met through the local club scene. Their first collaborative single, "The Roots" featuring vocalist Lior Attar, appeared in 2001 on Global Underground and was highlighted in Dave Seaman’s mix compilation Global Underground 22: Dave Seaman in Melbourne. In 2004, the duo released "Burma", which was included in Sasha’s compilation Involver. The breakthrough came with their debut studio album Because We Can, released on 16 April 2006 by GU Music; the album was described as a “dreamlike sequence” and received widespread acclaim across the electronic music community. After sporadic releases in 2007, including "Dr Kings Surgery" and "Villain", Lostep ceased collaborative activity. Phil K passed away from prostate cancer on 1 November 2020, leaving the duo’s legacy within the ambient and electronic genres.
