Roy Powell, born on October 2, 1965, in Langham, Rutland, United Kingdom, is a British jazz pianist. He began playing piano at age five after receiving lessons from his father and attended the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied classical composition during the day and performed in Manchester jazz clubs at night. In 1992, Powell was a member of the Creative Jazz Orchestra, and moved to Norway three years later. Notable albums include North by Northwest (2001), Rendezvous (Live in London) (2007), and Aria (2025). Roy Powell has also collaborated with various artists including Jacob Young, Jarle Vespestad, Lorenzo Feliciati, Pat Mastelotto, Graham Haynes, and Bill Laswell.
