The Servants were an English indie rock band formed in 1985 in Hayes, Middlesex. The group was founded by singer-songwriter David Westlake and school friend Ed Moran. Their first gig was on July 1, 1985, opening for Television Personalities at The Pindar of Wakefield in London's King’s Cross. The band released their debut single "She's Always Hiding" in 1986, followed by the EP The Sun, a Small Star later that year. In December 1986, Luke Haines joined the band and remained until August 1991. Their debut album, Disinterest, was released in 1990 on Paperhouse Records. The Servants disbanded after their final gig at the Rock Garden in London on August 21, 1991. Their second album, Small Time, recorded in 1991, was released in 2012 as part of the compilation Small Time / Hey Hey We're The Manqués, after Mojo magazine included Disinterest in its 2011 list of the greatest British indie records of all time.
