While it's difficult to trace DJ Bonano's career back to his childhood, his influence on Ivorian culture is quite different. A singer specializing in coupé-décalé, he is credited with originating the concept of "Django". Together with DJ Lewis, another well-known producer in the style, they signed the famous track "Django ", which exploded in Côte d'Ivoire and got a whole generation dancing. The success of this track led to a stadium concert in Mali, where Oumou Sangaré and Youssou N'Dour also took part. The staging, in which DJ Lewis chases DJ Bonano, surprises everyone, including the security staff, and astonishes the audience. After this spectacular performance, however, Bonano made himself scarce, appearing only discreetly in the music world. Having subsequently settled in France, the musician put production aside to devote himself to other personal projects, returning here and there with a few tracks such as "Vive les mariés " in 2017 or "J'ai Déjà Vécu Ça " in 2019. What remains is "Django", and its special aura in the history of coupé-décalé.
