Kaláka, a Hungarian folk music group, was formed in Budapest on November 26, 1969. The founding members were Dániel Gryllus, Vilmos Gryllus, István Mikó, and Balázs Radványi. Kaláka released their self-titled debut album in 1977, marking the beginning of a prolific career that would span over four decades. The group's music often features settings of poems by Hungarian and foreign poets, including János Arany, Endre Ady, and François Villon. Notable albums include Az Én Koromban (1981), A Fekete Ember (1984), and Villon (1988). Kaláka has toured extensively internationally, performing in countries such as Austria, Argentina, Brazil, and Japan. They have also organized the annual Kaláka Folk Festival since 1980. The group's extensive discography includes over 25 albums and approximately 1000 songs, showcasing their versatility and enduring influence on Hungarian folk music.
