Jaakko Löytty, born on February 25, 1955, in Finland, is a Finnish singer-songwriter and gospel musician. He spent much of his youth in Namibia, where his parents worked as missionaries. Löytty released his first album, Asioita joista vaietaan, in 1974. Throughout his career, he has released numerous albums, including Toisen päivän iltana (1982), Laulu yhteisestä leivästä (1984), and Helsinki-Dakar (1991). His work often incorporates influences from Americana, blues, country music, reggae, and African music. Notable albums include a collaboration with Nicolas Sarr called Nicolas Sarr & Jaakko Löytty in 1993 and compilations like Kuuntelen in the same year and Omakuva in 1998. Löytty has also been involved in missionary work, developing church music and editing hymnals in local languages during his time in Senegal.
