Cool for August (formed 1993, in Los Angeles) was an American rock ensemble. The group consisted of vocalist Gordon Vaughn, guitarist Shad Hills, guitarist Trevor Kustiak, drummer Shane Hills, and bassist Andrew Shives. The recording career began with the EP MilkinSorgin (1997) and the debut album Grand World (1997), released via Warner Bros.. The ensemble gained recognition for the single "Don't Wanna Be Here", which reached number 15 on the U.S. Rock charts. The group performed the song "Trials" during its television debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and completed a national tour with Matchbox 20 in 1998. Larry Voss replaced Shane Hills in 2000. In 2001, the group released the online single "Say It Isn't So" and recorded a six-song demo before becoming inactive due to a lack of label support. Vaughn subsequently worked as a freelance producer. The ensemble resumed activity in 2011 but became inactive again without releasing new material.
