The Magnets, a British a cappella group formed in 1996, originated from University College London where Callum McIntosh, Michael Conway, Stevie Hutchinson, Ross Hunter, Eddie King and Mc Zani first met during a production of Guys and Dolls. Their debut studio album, Giving It All That (2001), marked the beginning of their recording career and led to a signing with EMI. Subsequent releases included the EP Human (2011) and a series of live recordings that featured covers such as “For What It’s Worth” and “Sweet Dreams”. The group toured extensively, supporting acts like Lisa Stansfield, Michael Ball, Tom Jones and Geri Halliwell, and appeared on television programs including The Michael Parkinson Show and Blue Peter. International exposure followed with a European tour in late 2010, performances at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2011, and a debut U.S. show in New York City on 12 January 2014. In 2025, the band began a residency aboard the Valiant Lady cruise ship, continuing their presence in the music scene.
