Alexis Benjamin Taylor, born 20 April 1980 in London, is an English singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, percussionist, drummer, and synthesizer player best known as the frontman of Hot Chip. After forming Hot Chip with Joe Goddard at Elliot Secondary School and studying English at Jesus College, Cambridge, Alexis Taylor released the solo album Rubbed Out in 2008 and joined the improvisational quartet About Group. He followed with the EP Nayim from the Halfway Line (2012) and the albums Await Barbarians (2014), Piano (2016), Listen With(out) Piano (2017), Beautiful Thing (2018) and Silence (2021). His work has appeared on the Domino label and been produced by Tim Goldsworthy, contributing to Hot Chip’s presence on the UK indie charts and earning critical acclaim within electronic and synth‑pop circles. In 2026, he released Paris in the Spring through Night Time Stories label.
