Newham Generals is a British grime duo from East London, formed in 2004. Their lineup included MCs D Double E, Footsie, and founding member Monkstar, who left in 2007. They gained initial recognition through regular appearances on pirate radio stations and released several singles on white label vinyl. In 2005, they signed to Dizzee Rascal's record label Dirtee Stank after D Double E presented a CD of their work. They released their debut album Generally Speaking (2009). They gained renown for notable songs such as "Frontline" and "Hard", and their live performances. Their name originated from Newham General Hospital.
