Haysi Fantayzee were a British pop and new wave band formed in 1981, emerging from the Blitz Kids street arts scene in London. The group comprised Jeremy Healy on vocals, Kate Garner on vocals, and Paul Caplin on keyboards. Haysi Fantayzee gained initial attention by sending video performances with their demo tapes to record companies, a novel approach at the time. Their debut single "John Wayne Is Big Leggy" was released in 1982, followed by "Holy Joe" (1982) and "Shiny Shiny" and "Sister Friction" in 1983. The band's unique style fused reggae, country, and electro elements with politically charged lyrics presented as nursery rhymes. Their distinctive fashion sense also further set them apart. Haysi Fantayzee appeared multiple times on the BBC Television programme Top of the Pops and released their sole album, Battle Hymns for Children Singing, in 1983. The band disbanded that same year. Following the breakup, Kate Garner pursued a career in photography after a brief solo venture, while Jeremy Healy released the single "When Malindy Sings" in 1984 and later worked as a DJ and album mixer for other artists.
