John Davis and The Monster Orchestra, an American disco band from the United States of America, was formed in 1976. John "the Monster" Davis, the lead member and producer, lent his name to the ensemble. Their first album Night and Day was released that same year, featuring the influential single "I Can't Stop", which became a staple in hip hop culture, sampled by artists such as Run-DMC and Missy Elliott. The band's subsequent releases included Up Jumped the Devil (1977) and Ain't That Enough For You (1978), the latter featuring their most commercially successful single "Ain't That Enough For You", which reached number 70 in the UK Singles Chart. Their final album, The Monster Orchestra Strikes Again!, was released in 1979 and included the singles "Love Magic" and a cover of Ashford & Simpson's "Bourgie Bourgie". The band disbanded in 1980, with their last release being the single "Hangin' Out", which charted on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. In 1990, a remix of "(Feel The) Love Magic" became a club hit again. Davis was also involved in producing and arranging the Number 1 R&B hit "Be Thankful For What You've Got" for William deVaughn in 1974.
