Remi, an Australian hip hop duo consisting of rapper Aderemi Matthew "Remi" Kolawole and producer Justin Scott "Sensible J" Smith, formed in Melbourne. Originally a trio with Daniel James "Dutch" Siwes, Remi released their first recordings, "Apollo 13" and "Ape", as free downloads in 2011. Their debut album Regular People Shit followed in January 2012, featuring the single "Ape". The trio gained significant traction with singles like "Sangria" and "Saggin" from their mix-tape F.Y.G. Act 1, winning Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2013. Their second album, Raw x Infinity (2014), earned critical acclaim and won the Australian Music Prize. Slimming to a duo in 2016, their third album, Divas & Demons (2016), peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Charts and was nominated for the 2017 ARIA Award for Best Urban Album. Their final album, Fried, was released in May 2021, coinciding with their disbandment.
