Honeyroot is a collaborative project formed in 1997 by English singer Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 and Sheffield‑born producer Keith Lowndes, both of whom contributed to the ambient dance landscape. Their first major release, the album Sound Echo Location, appeared in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2003 and reached the United States in 2004, establishing the duo’s presence in the electronic music scene. In 2005 the duo issued the single "Love Will Tear Us Apart", a cover of Joy Division, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 70 and was later featured in the Scottish film Red Road. The same year the EP Where I Belong was released, followed by the 2007 album The Sun Will Come, which included the double A‑side single "Nobody Loves You (The Way I Do)" / "Heavy Drops" and the track "Where I Belong". The Sun Will Come showcased a range of guest vocalists, including Briony Greenhill, Kim Richey, Kerry Shaw, Elsie Wooley, and Lindsay Crisp, while Glenn Gregory contributed vocals to only two tracks. In 2006 an online‑only release titled EP1 expanded the group’s catalogue. Throughout their career Honeyroot remained signed to the independent label Just Music, contributing ambient dance music to both club circuits and cinematic soundtracks, and achieved a modest but notable chart presence with "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
