Irish singer Kieran Mac Feely, known professionally as Simple Kid, emerged as a singer blending alternative rock, pop rock, and traditional rock. He began recording in his teens using an 8‑track cassette player, later integrating computer techniques to craft his debut album Simple Kid 1 in 2004, which included the single "Hello" and reached number 38 on the UK charts. In 2006, his second album Simple Kid 2 was released, featuring the track "Lil' King Kong" that appeared in a Saturn advertisement and the 2008 film Jumper. The album received critical acclaim, earning a spot in Mojo Magazine’s top 50 albums of 2006 and CD of the week in The Times culture section. After a hiatus announced in 2011, Simple Kid returned with the single "The Road" in 2012, followed by a series of tracks in 2018 such as "Lost in Space (The Forgotten Man)" and "Nobel Prize". These were compiled into the 2022 album Simple Kid 3: Health & Safety. Simple Kid resumed live performances in April 2023 after a fifteen‑year break, continuing to contribute to the Irish music scene with a focus on eclectic sampling and folk‑influenced instrumentation.
