The Violets, a post-punk/indie/pop band from New Cross, London, formed when guitarist Joe Daniel and vocalist Alexis Mary met. Their first song, "Laxteen", was recorded with drummer Scott Rosenthal. The trio played their debut at Brixton Windmill and released their acclaimed single "Foreo" in 2007, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film Marnie. They supported this release with a tour alongside The Gossip. Their debut album, The Lost Pages, was released in 2007 on Angular Recording Corporation. In late 2007, Matt Gilbert joined on bass guitar, and the quartet toured extensively before splitting up in early 2008. The Violets were recognized by ArtRocker for their album The Lost Pages, naming it the fifteenth best of 2007, and their single "Foreo" as the seventeenth best of that year.
