The Beautiful Mistake was a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2000 by Josh Hagquist and Shawn Grover following the breakup of their previous band Ember, The Beautiful Mistake released their debut EP December in 2001 on Republica Records. Their first full-length album, Light a Match, For I Deserve to Burn, was released in 2002. They followed up with This Is Who You Are in 2004, which peaked at number 49 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and number 22 on the Billboard Top Independent chart. The band toured extensively throughout the U.S., sharing stages with notable acts such as Further Seems Forever, Brand New, and Fall Out Boy. In 2005, they were featured in the movie Bastards of Young, showcasing the growing post-hardcore DIY music scene. The Beautiful Mistake stopped touring in late 2005, but members have played reunion shows, including in Southern California and the Furnace Fest in Alabama.
