Night was a rock band formed in 1978 in Los Angeles, California, by veteran British-based session musicians. Vocalists Chris Thompson and Stevie Lange had previously collaborated on Manfred Mann's Earth Band album Watch. After touring as Filthy McNasty, the group officially formed as Night.Their self-titled debut album, produced by Richard Perry for his Planet label in 1979, yielded two US Top 40 hits: "Hot Summer Nights" (Number 18) and "If You Remember Me" (Number 17). The former, a cover of Walter Egan's hit, reached Number 3 in Australia and achieved moderate international success. "If You Remember Me", recorded as the theme song for the film The Champ, was credited solely to Chris Thompson on its single release.Night's second album, Long Distance, released in 1980, produced the minor hit single "Love on the Airwaves". The band did not officially disband until 1982. Night can be seen performing "The Stripper" in the 1980 film The Monster Club. In 2020, Night's self-titled debut album and singles were reissued on limited edition vinyl.
