Aleš Bárta, born on August 30, 1960, in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, Czech Republic, is an organist. He studied at the Brno Conservatory under Josef Pukl and later at the Academy of Music in Prague with Václav Rabas. Bárta won the Anton Bruckner International Organ Competition in Linz in 1982. He followed this with a prize at the Franz Liszt International Organ Competition in Budapest in 1983 and a win at the Prague Spring International Organ Competition in 1984. Throughout his career, Bárta has performed as a soloist with Czech symphony and chamber orchestras, including the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and the Czech Philharmonic. Albums by Bárta include Aleš Bárta plays four sonatas (1992) and Toccata and Fugue: ORGAN SURROUND ILLUSION (2001).
