1000 Clowns was a rap group formed in the United States of America in 1997, featuring sisters Anita and Michelle as vocalists, Kevi as lead singer and rapper, DJ Mr. Pao as turntablist and co‑producer, DJ Dax, and drummer Scotty. The group entered the music scene with the single "(Not the) Greatest Rapper", which appeared on the Good Burger soundtrack and reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart in 1999. In the same year, 1000 Clowns released their sole studio album Freelance Bubblehead, produced by Mickey Petralia, which included tracks such as "Kitty Kat Max", "I Love N.Y.", and "Pretty Liar" featuring Jude. The album received mixed reviews, with CMJ New Music Monthly describing it as “easy on the ears” but formulaic. 1000 Clowns disbanded in 1999, the same year the group released their final single "Kitty Kat Max". Their brief output remains noted for its contribution to late‑1990s rap, with the single "(Not the) Greatest Rapper" standing as the group’s prominent cultural milestone.
