Souvarit, a Finnish schlager band, was founded in 1978. The group initially consisted of Lasse Hoikka on lead vocals and drums, Tapani Peura, and Juha Salmivuori. Souvarit gained prominence with their debut album, Lapinkävijän laulut, in 1980, which established them as a notable act in the Finnish music scene. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Souvarit released several albums including "Jätkän oma kulta" (1983), Neljän tuulen tie (1990), and later Kultamaan lauluja (2009). The band's music often featured themes from Lapland. Lasse Hoikka also pursued a solo career, releasing albums such as "Taas kutsuu tie" in 2014. Souvarit experienced numerous lineup changes over the years but maintained a consistent presence with Hoikka as the lead vocalist; he ceased playing drums for the group in 2011 but remained as frontman. The band continued to release music and perform, achieving notable chart success with compilations like 20 suosikkia: Jätkän oma kulta (1997).
