Ragni Marita Malmstén-Karjalainen, known professionally as Ragni Malmstén, was a Finnish singer born on October 2, 1933, in Helsinki. She studied at the Sibelius Academy but shifted to light music, making her first recordings in 1954 with children’s songs and Mickey Mouse themes. Notable early tracks included "Neljä kissanpoikaa" (1955) and "Kaiho Ja Onni" (1956). Throughout the 1960s, she released hits such as "Unohtumaton Elmeri" (1962) and "Tuska" (1965), a version of Mikis Theodorakis' "Kaimos". In 1975, Malmstén released the album Vain hetkeä mä sulta pyydän, featuring her successful track "Mä laihdutan". She also acted in children's television programs on Yle TV1. Malmstén passed away on May 25, 2002, in Helsinki.
