Kauko Käyhkö, born in 1916, in San Petersburgo, Imperio ruso, was a Finnish singer, musician, and actor who began composing music at age 13. He made his first recordings as a guitarist with the orchestra Amarillo in 1934 and started singing professionally at 20, acting as a soloist for the orchestra Dallapé and releasing “Mustalaisvalssi” in 1937. Käyhkö gained fame for interpreting works by Toivo Kärki and Reino Helismaa, such as “Rovaniemen markkinoilla” and “Moukan tuuri”. He received two gold records for “Rovaniemen markkinoilla” (1951) and “Rakastan sinua, elämä” (1963). Käyhkö also acted in over 40 film productions. His final album, a compilation titled 20 suosikkia: Rakastan sinua, elämä, was released in 2000. Kauko Käyhkö passed away in 1983, in Espoo, Finland.
