With his swooning, wholesome style and smooth, romantic delivery, Timo Turpeinen has been a crooning pop favourite in his native Finland since striking out as a solo artist in the late 1980s, making him one of Finland's most enduring pop stars. He originally started performing with a quirky pop group called Funky President in the late 1970s before fronting the R&B/soul band the Bluesshakers and releasing the album 'I'm Shakin' in 1987. Two years later he re-emerged with his own project and scored his biggest hit single with a cover of Markku Blomqvist's song 'Liehuva Liekenvarsa' in 1991, before cementing his national popularity with the albums 'Reissumiehen Memories' and 'All Moves'. He has also duetted regularly with pop diva Sonja Lumme, written tracks for Vicky Rosti and appeared on compilation records with Taneli Makela. In 2005 he released his seventh studio album 'Power' through WEA Records.
