Lars Hannibal is a Danish classical guitarist and lutenist born on July 15, 1951, in Aarhus. He was influenced by the music of Bob Dylan and The Beatles before focusing on the classical guitar after listening to the recordings of Andrés Segovia. Hannibal completed musical studies at the Aarhus Conservatory and studied the lute with Toyohiko Satoh in The Hague until 1980. He taught music at the Peter Sabroe National Institute for Social Educators beginning in 1972. In 1992, he established a musical partnership with recorder player Michala Petri, with whom he performed more than 1,500 concerts and established the label OUR Recordings. Hannibal also collaborated with musicians including Kim Sjøgren, Michael Brydenfelt, and Tina Chen Yi. He established the project Dialogue—East Meets West to facilitate artistic exchange between Denmark and China. This initiative included a Gala Concert at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
