Giorgia Tomassi is an Italian classical pianist born in 1970 in Naples. Tomassi received initial piano lessons from her mother before studying at the Conservatory of Milan. Tomassi completed her education at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola under the direction of Franco Scala. In 1992, Tomassi won the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv. Tomassi performed concerts throughout Europe, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, South Korea, and Japan. Tomassi recorded the album Nino Rota: Piano Concerti with the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala under Riccardo Muti. In 2000, Tomassi released a recording of Frédéric Chopin’s Etüden op. 10 and 25 and Johannes Brahms’ Paganini-Variationen op. 35 through the label EMI. Her discography also includes a live recording of the Witold Lutosławski piece “Variations on a Theme by Paganini” performed in a duo with Martha Argerich.
