Edgard Doneux

Edgard Doneux, born on March 25, 1920, in Liège, Belgium, was a conductor who received his musical training at the conservatoire of his native city. He debuted at the Opéra Royal de Liège in 1940 and became principal conductor at the Monnaie opera house in Brussels in 1946. In 1949, he took on the role of chief conductor at Belgian Radio-Television, a position he held until his death. Doneux's repertoire included works such as Carmen and La Bohème. He conducted major ballets including The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Notable recordings include Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto with Lola Bobesco (1982) and André Grétry's Zémire et Azor (1974). Doneux passed away on January 31, 1984.
