Nikos Veliotis is a Greek musician, composer, and cellist from Athens, born on February 26, 1970. He studied classical piano until the age of 16 before entering the underground electronic music scene and founding In Trance 95 with Alex Machairas in 1988. Veliotis began playing the cello at age 21, and by the end of the 1990s, he shifted his focus toward the experimental field in both sound and image. His solo discography includes the albums β (2001) and Radial (2004). He has collaborated extensively with Giannis Aggelakas and established the group Mohammad (also known as MMMD) in 2008 with ILIOS and Coti K. In 2009, he presented the multimedia performance Cello Powder [The Complete Works for Cello]. Veliotis has composed for dance, theater, and film, and he organized the 2:13 festival of experimental music in Athens between 2000 and 2007.
