Reginald "Reggie" Verghese, born on August 16, 1947 in Singapore, was a guitarist and record producer. In his teens, he joined The Checkmates before replacing Raymond Leong as the guitarist for The Quests in 1964. With The Quests, Verghese achieved a breakthrough with their hit, "Shanty", which reached Number 1. He remained with the group until its disbandment in 1971. Verghese then transitioned into production, working on notable albums such as The Western Union Band (1977) and Matthew & The Mandarins' self-titled debut, which featured the hit "Singapore Cowboy". In 1984, he co-founded Boogie Productions Pte Ltd. Verghese passed away on June 17, 2015, at the age of 67, due to heart failure.
