Ronald Charles Waldron (born June 29, 1923), known professionally as Ronnie Ronalde, was a British music hall singer and siffleur from Islington, London. Ronalde joined Arturo Steffani's Silver Songsters at age 15 and subsequently studied singing and yodelling. He released the recording “If I Were a Blackbird” in 1950, which reached number 20 on the British charts. Ronalde signed with labels including EMI, Pye, and Columbia. His discography included the recordings “Tritsch Tratsch Polka” and “Bells Across the Meadow”. His recording of “In a Monastery Garden” sold over 1 million copies. In 1949, Ronalde hosted the BBC Radio program The Voice of Variety. He received the North Carolina Louisburg Hall of Fame Award in 1995 and published the autobiography Around the World on a Whistle in 1998. He released the album The Magic of Ronnie Ronalde in 2003. Ronalde died on January 13, 2015. A commemorative blue plaque was unveiled at his childhood home in 2021.
