Siegbert Rampe, born on February 9, 1964 in Pforzheim, Germany, was a conductor, harpsichordist, and organist. He studied in Stuttgart, Amsterdam, and Salzburg, learning from notable figures such as Kenneth Gilbert, Ton Koopman, Ludger Lohmann, and Helmut Lachenmann. In 1988, Rampe founded the Baroque orchestra Nova Stravaganza, initially named La Stravaganza Hamburg. As a soloist and with his ensemble, he performed worldwide and recorded over 80 CDs, earning multiple awards including four Echo Klassik prizes. His discography includes notable releases such as Organ Works (2007), Clavier Sonatas/variations IV (2007), and the comprehensive Mozart: Complete Piano Works series (2012). Rampe also taught at institutions including the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Mozarteum in Salzburg, and Arizona State University. He authored numerous scholarly works on music history and performance practice, contributing significantly to the field until his death on February 2, 2025.
