Michele Luciano Straniero, born on September 27, 1936, in Milan, Italy, is a singer and one of the founding members of the politically engaged music group Cantacronache. In 1958, Straniero co-founded Cantacronache in Turin, which aimed to create socially conscious songs as an alternative to consumerist themes. The group collaborated with notable intellectuals such as Italo Calvino and Franco Fortini. Straniero's involvement with Cantacronache led to the release of several albums, including 1933‑1963 Lieder Des Europäischen Widerstandes Gegen Den Faschismus (1966), Canti Della Resistenza Spagnola – Songs Of The Spanish Resistance (1968), and Cantacronache 2 (1971). He also released notable singles such as Preghiera Del Marine / La Révolution (1967). After suffering a severe car accident in 1998, Michele Luciano Straniero passed away on December 7, 2000.
