Percance is a Costa Rican rock–ska fusion group formed in 2007 in San José, built around vocalist Esteban Ramírez and a large brass-driven lineup that included bassist Maurizio Luconi, guitarist Sebastián Vargas, trumpeters Felipe Ortiz and Felipe Sandoval, trombonist Adrián Somarribas, drummer Marcos Novoa, keyboardist Edgar Brenes and percussionist Donny Rivas. Their debut album Soñar es gratis was released in 2007, featuring singles "Sin Pensarlo" and "Me lo tomo todo". In 2010, Percance released their second full-length album, ¿Dónde iré a parar?, which included hits like "Gira el mundo". The band's extensive touring and social activism led to numerous awards. In 2014, they released Contra el Viento, marking their first collaboration with an international producer, Sebastián Krys. The album featured collaborations such as "Hasta el final" with Emiliano Brancciari of No Te Va Gustar, followed by the live set 10 Años Vivos in 2016 and a run of singles with guests like Los Auténticos Decadentes, Kapanga, Los Caligaris and Big Javy. After a period of reduced activity, they returned with the single "Me Enamoré" alongside Paraguayan band Kchiporros in 2023 and marked their 18th anniversary with a sold-out show at Mexico City’s Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in April 2024, documented on the live album Percance 18 Años (En Vivo Lunario CDMX) later that year. In 2024 the group played farewell concerts at Teatro Melico Salazar in San José as the original Costa Rican lineup dissolved, while Esteban Ramírez and Felipe Sandoval moved to Mexico to continue the project with new musicians, and in 2025 Percance remained active from Mexico, releasing the singles "No Te Apartes de Mí" and "Mae Wey."
