Christopher F. Gaffney, born on October 3, 1950, in Vienna, Austria, was an American singer and songwriter who grew up primarily in southern California and Arizona. As a teenager, he played in various house bands before releasing his debut solo album Road to Indio in 1986. Gaffney's career spanned multiple genres, including country, rock, and soul. His subsequent albums included Chris Gaffney & the Cold Hard Facts (1990), Mi Vida Loca (1992), and Loser's Paradise (1995). He collaborated with notable artists such as Dave Alvin, Lucinda Williams, and Jim Lauderdale. In 2002, Gaffney formed the Hacienda Brothers with guitarist/songwriter Dave Gonzalez. Their album Arizona Motel was released shortly before Gaffney's death from liver cancer on April 17, 2008. Posthumously, a tribute album titled Man of Somebody's Dreams: A Tribute to the Songs of Chris Gaffney was released in 2009, featuring contributions from Dave Alvin and Los Lobos.
