Roar Engelberg, born on July 26, 1964, in Hamar, Norway, is a Norwegian flutist known for his mastery of the panpipes. His interest in the instrument began at age 12 after hearing Romanian panpipe player Georghe Zamfir on the radio. Engelberg taught himself to play and later studied with Nicolai Pirvu in Hilversum from 1985 to 1988. He made his debut in London in 1986, followed by extensive tours with Iver Kleive and Stein-Erik Olsen. Notable releases include Herdens flöjt: Julsånger på pan-flöjt (1989), Masterpieces of the Beatles (1991), and Lofoten (2024). Engelberg received the 2007 award "Meritul Cultural în gradul de Cavaler" from the Romanian state for his contributions to Romanian music.
