Forty Foot Echo is a Canadian rock band formed in 2001 by lead singer and songwriter Murray Yates following the breakup of his previous band Templar. Yates began writing material independently and, after recording demos with producer Joey Moi, signed with Hollywood Records. The band’s self-titled debut album (2003) featured singles such as "Save Me" and "Brand New Day." Yates continued the project independently through his label Echoman Records, assembling new lineups and releasing the second album Aftershock (2006) and later Returning (2013). Notable achievements include "Brand New Day" appearing on the Freaky Friday soundtrack, which debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold by the RIAA.
