Heiko Maier, and Maik Karthäuser, formed the German electronic duo Heiko & Maiko in 1996 while working as DJs; both had early experience as radio hosts on MDR Sputnik, later presenting Der Club and Flirt am Freitag on MDR Jump, which earned them the German DJ Award for Best Radio Show in 2003. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 single "Glücklich", which peaked at Number Fifty‑five on the Media Control charts, followed by "Sonnenschein" reaching Number Seventy‑six; the pair released the EP Sonnenschein on 31 May 2005 and Morseton 2.0 on 2 July 2007. In 2009 they issued the full‑length album Mut zum Ton, adding tracks such as "Not Too Late" and "Goldener Reiter" to their repertoire; the album consolidated their presence in the German house scene. Throughout the decade they continued to produce singles, remix projects, and toured Europe, maintaining a steady output that included collaborations like "Ich will Techno" with 909 Nation in 2023 and the 2024 remix release Neon Lights. Their catalog remains influential within dance and electronic music circles.
