Q: Can you describe what the song is about? What was your thinking behind the project?
John Goldrust: The song is about putting your faith in a higher power than yourself and that all will be right in the end
Q: Are there any interesting or amusing things to tell us about events surrounding the track’s recording or production?
John Goldrust: The vocal was recorded in one take, with a melody that was entirely improvised, based on lyrics that were partly pre-written.
The groove was inspired by a looper-sequencer that Funky Paulo had coded himself
Q: How would you summarise the track ‘When Said Is Done – ft I-Lodica’, the recording of it and its release?
John Goldrust: We are all musician friends who have never played together in this particular line-up, or fusion of genres before, brought together under one umbrella by the Producer, Guitarist and Singer-Songwriter John Goldrust.
The track itself is an energetic blend of Jazz-Funk harmonies and rhythms, fused with Reggae inspired melodies and lyrics.
The lyrics tell the story of putting one's faith in a higher power, from which the innate goodness of the universe will rise up and transcend the quagmire of the modern world we live in.
Produced without automated short-cuts, it stands in defiance of the A.I. driven 'muzak' we will surely all be swamped with soon, when already auto-tune and quantisation have become the norm in modern music, to the detriment of it's essential spirit!
