Herbert Henck, born on July 28, 1948 in Treysa, Germany, was a pianist and musicologist. He studied at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and later at the Cologne University of Music, completing his studies in 1975. Henck's career focused on 20th-century music, with over 50 recordings featuring works by composers like John Cage and Charles Ives. Notable releases include Klavierwerke (1997) and Klavierstücke und Sonaten (2007). He was awarded the Advancement Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for Music in 1981 and the German Critics' Prize in 1986. Henck passed away on January 17, 2025, in Zeven, Germany.
