Sapattivuosi, a Finnish heavy metal band, was formed as a Black Sabbath tribute act. The group initially consisted of vocalist Hannu Paloniemi, drummer Simo Vehmas, and guitarist Janne Halmkrona. Their debut album, Sapattivuosi, was released in 2003, followed by Vol. 2 in 2005. Both albums covered songs from Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne era and featured notable singles such as "Hautuumaan lapset" (originally "Children of the Grave") and "Kännin piikkiin" (originally "Sweet Leaf"). Vocalist Marko Hietala joined the band, replacing Paloniemi. Hietala's first appearance with Sapattivuosi was on the single "Pelon lait", a cover of Black Sabbath's "Neon Knights". The band's third album, Ihmisen Merkki (2009), covered songs from Black Sabbath's Ronnie James Dio era. All three albums charted in Finland, with two reaching the top ten.
