Mirco Harald Grunert, known professionally as Nic, was born on April 9, 1981, in Duisburg, Germany. After completing his education, he trained as an assistant social pedagogue and worked as a DJ before transitioning into music production. His breakthrough came when he met music producer Peter Sebastian at an artist meeting in Dortmund, leading to the release of his debut single "Geschickt eingefädelt" in 2001. Nic's career gained significant momentum with the release of his album Simsalabim in 2006, which included the hit single "Einen Stern", a cover of Nik P.'s original. The song became particularly popular in discotheques on Mallorca and later entered the German Single Charts, securing Nic a contract with EMI. Following this success, Nic released several albums including Küss Mich (2008) and Bitte bleib (2010). Despite subsequent chart entries, he did not achieve the same level of success as "Einen Stern". In 2011, Nic signed with DA Music and released his album Was wäre wenn. Nic announced his retirement from music in 2018 but returned with new releases such as "Die Liebe bebt" in 2022.
