Jing Ting, born Guo Dashu and also known as Tsin Ting was born in Sichuan, China in 1934. She was a singer and dubbing artist who moved to Hong Kong in 1949. She began her music career by singing in nightclubs and recording "One Day When We Were Young" in Cantonese in 1953. Jing Ting's breakthrough came when director Li Han-hsiang had her dub for Lin Dai in the film Diau Charn (1958), which won several Asian Film Festival awards. She continued to dub for numerous Shaw Brothers' films, notably The Love Eterne (1963). Jing Ting left Shaw Studio as a contract singer in 1970 but continued recording albums with various labels throughout the decades. In 2000 and 2002, she held sold-out concerts with other artists at the Hong Kong Coliseum. She passed away on October 20, 2022, at the age of 88.
