Torsten Erik "Totta" Näslund was born on April 1, 1945 in Sandviken, Sweden. He moved to Gothenburg in 1970 and joined the rock group Nynningen as their main singer. In the mid-1970s, he became part of Nationalteatern, a musical theater ensemble that transitioned into a rock orchestra. With Nationalteatern, he participated in Tältprojektet, a 1977 musical theater performance on Swedish working-class history. In the early 1980s, Näslund focused on Totta's Bluesband, releasing several albums including Compilation Boogie in 1985. He embarked on a solo career in 1995 and released eight solo albums until his death. Notable collaborations include an album with Mikael Wiehe featuring Bob Dylan songs translated to Swedish, released posthumously as Totta & Wiehe - Dylan. Näslund died of liver cancer on June 19, 2005.
