"He who comes in peace", according to his Egyptian pseudonym, is the sound architect of the group IAM. A member of IAM since 1989, Pascal Perez was renamed Imhotep by Akhenaton. Imhotep escaped from the world he had forged with IAM on a trip to Essaouira, Morocco, where he conceived the 1998 album Blue Print . Instrumental, Blue Print leans towards desert blues, oriental rhythms and lounge music, a far cry from the French rap to which Imhotep has accustomed his public. He returned to his daily routine with the compilations Chroniques de Mars, vol. 1 (1998) and Chroniques de Mars, vol. 2 (2006), followed by the soundtrack to the film Les Barons in 2008. Imhotep again felt the need to escape in 2012 with Kheper, where he electronized world music.
